India’s Pharma Sector Gathers for National GMP Conference at MedTech Zone
A national conference titled “Enhancing Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance through Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)” took place today at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ). The event, organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in partnership with the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, and AMTZ, focused on the critical role of GMP in ensuring the production of safe, effective, and high-quality pharmaceutical products.
The conference emphasized that GMP is more than just a regulatory necessity; it is a comprehensive framework that upholds product quality, safety, and efficacy. Industry experts discussed how standardization, thorough documentation, and robust quality control practices can mitigate risks like contamination and defects. Additionally, the integration of GMP with emerging technologies was highlighted as a key to streamlining processes and aligning with global standards.
In today’s competitive market, attracting investments is essential for pharmaceutical companies seeking to expand their operations and enhance product offerings. Adopting GMP is increasingly recognized as a key factor in attracting investment to the sector.
Dr. Nasir Jamal, Director of PHDCCI, noted, “Good Manufacturing Practices are vital for ensuring the production of high-quality, safe, and effective pharmaceutical products. With initiatives like GMP and the revamped RPTUAS, India’s pharmaceutical sector is poised to compete globally while safeguarding public health.”
Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and CEO of AMTZ, highlighted the progress of the zone, stating, “AMTZ’s mission is to bridge the gap between science and business for the greater good of society. Through initiatives like GMP-focused certifications and validation systems, we aim to empower industries to align their certifications, regulations, and production processes seamlessly. Our journey from concept to reality demonstrates the power of collaboration in transforming India’s healthcare manufacturing sector.”
Dharmendra Kumar Yadav spoke about the future of the pharmaceutical industry, stressing, “While the future holds immense opportunities, it also calls for continuous innovation and, most importantly, a steadfast commitment to quality.”
